Construction equipment must use mufflers or other noise reduction devices. Equipment operating 24/7 near residential areas (e.g., pumps, generators) must be shielded to reduce noise below 60 dBA from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. at the closest adjacent residentially zoned property line. Domestic power tools are permitted from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. General construction/demolition in residential areas is prohibited between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., Monday through Saturday, and all day Sunday and holidays.

Amplified sound is prohibited outside a fully enclosed building between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., unless associated with a special event for which a city permit has been obtained. Sound plainly audible at 50 feet is prima facie evidence of violation for amplified sound between 11 PM and 7 AM.

Noise from animals, such as barking dogs or squawking birds, is subject to the general noise disturbance regulations if found to be 'unreasonably excessive' or 'plainly audible'.

Sound from vehicles passing along the street that is 'plainly audible' from 50 feet away may be considered a citable action. Unreasonably excessive noise from a vehicle is defined as sound plainly audible at a distance of 50 feet or more from the vehicle.
