Construction noise is typically allowed between 7 AM and 6 PM on weekdays. Special permits are required for work outside these hours, especially in residential areas. A new state law (Assembly Bill 478) permits construction to begin as early as 5 AM from April 1 through September 30 if the work site is more than 300 feet from an occupied residence or in a declarant-owned community; otherwise, the 7 AM start time applies.

Amplified sound must comply with decibel limits for the respective zone and be reduced or shut off during nighttime hours unless special permits are granted. Sound from devices plainly audible at 50 feet is a violation. In the Arts District, amplified outdoor sound is restricted between 11 PM and 7 AM daily and must not be audible from 50 feet away during those hours. Permits are required for commercial or business use of loudspeakers or sound amplification devices.

It is unlawful to keep any animal, bird, or fowl which by causing frequent or long-continued noise disturbs the comfort or repose of any person in the vicinity. Las Vegas City Ordinance 7.36.010 specifically makes it unlawful to allow an animal to continuously bark, yelp, or create loud noise.

Las Vegas regulates noise from vehicles, prohibiting the discharge of exhaust except through a muffler or other device to prevent loud or explosive noises. Nevada law (NRS 484D.415) requires vehicles to have a muffler in good working order and specifically prohibits modified exhaust systems that amplify noise. Operating any automobile or motorcycle so out of repair as to cause loud and unnecessary noises is also prohibited.
