Excessive construction noise is a violation of Chapter 16 of the Killeen Code of Ordinances. Noise waivers can be applied for if an activity cannot reasonably comply with the ordinance.

It is prohibited to make noise or play a musical instrument or other equipment plainly audible to a nearby business or residence during the nighttime (11 PM - 7 AM). For residential areas, sound equipment producing sound audible beyond the property line between 10 PM and 10 AM cannot exceed 75 decibels.

Owning, keeping, or harboring any animal(s) that, by frequent or habitual noisemaking, create a noise nuisance is prohibited.

Operating any device that creates vibration above the perception threshold at or beyond property lines (or 50 feet in public spaces) is restricted. It is unlawful to park vehicles over one (1) ton, including truck tractors, within 600 feet of residential property, as they can become a noise nuisance. Most noise violations have historically come from moving vehicles. Complaints for vehicles parked in the street must be submitted to the Killeen Police Department by calling 254-200-7904.
