Construction, excavation, demolition, alteration, or repair work, and the operation of associated tools/equipment, are prohibited after 8:00 p.m. or before 7:00 a.m. Additionally, such work is unlawful if the average noise level exceeds 65 dB(A) over a 30-minute period when measured from the closest public street. Operation of piledrivers, pneumatic hammers, chain saws, and similar tools is also restricted between 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

The production or reproduction of sound from vehicle amplification (e.g., car stereos) measuring 55 dB(A) or greater at a distance of 10 feet or more is a noise nuisance. Similar restrictions apply to amplified sound on public property. Sound trucks are also regulated.

Frequent or long-continued noise from animals that causes annoyance or discomfort to a reasonable person, or disturbs two or more residents in adjacent residences (or three or more in close proximity), constitutes a noise nuisance. Dogs running at large are also prohibited.

Unnecessary sounding of horns or signaling devices, creation of unreasonably loud or harsh sounds, discharge of exhaust without an effective muffler, and the use of defective vehicles creating loud noises are prohibited. Car stereos are also restricted.
