Allowable construction hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Construction and maintenance activities during daytime hours are generally exempt from noise level regulations. However, construction, maintenance, repair, alteration or demolition work causing a noise disturbance is a 'noise disturbance per se' if conducted between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. in a residential district or quiet zone, or within 500 feet of a residence or quiet zone.

Operating sound production/reproduction devices, including radios, musical instruments, loudspeakers, and amplifiers, within a quiet zone in a manner causing a noise disturbance is prohibited per se between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and between 11:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Vehicular sound amplification systems are prohibited if audible at 30 feet or cause a person to be aware of vibration at 30 feet, creating a noise disturbance.

Owning, keeping, possessing, or harboring any animal that by frequent or habitual noise making unreasonably disturbs or interferes with the peace, comfort, or repose of citizens, or causes a noise disturbance, is prohibited. Complaints about barking dogs can be reported to Animal Control.

Repairing, rebuilding, modifying, or testing any motor vehicle or watercraft within a residential district or quiet zone, or within 500 feet of any residence or quiet zone, is a 'noise disturbance per se' if conducted between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Operating refuse compacting, processing, or collection vehicles in any residential district or quiet zone, or within 500 feet of any residence or quiet zone, causing a noise disturbance, is 'noise disturbance per se' if conducted between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Transient noise from moving sources like automobiles, trucks, airplanes, and railroads is exempt from noise level regulations.

Operating power equipment (excluding construction equipment) within a residential district or quiet zone, or within 500 feet of any residence or quiet zone, causing a noise disturbance, is 'noise disturbance per se' if conducted between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Lawnmowers or other power equipment may be operated from 7:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
